The role of the parent has many facets, and no I don't mean cook and chauffeur.
We are to be wise and compassionate rulers of our home. It's not something to shrug at and say,
"Oh, whatever." Treat it like a big deal and do it the best you can. It's ok to be exhausted. Take care of yourself and keep on trying. (Parenting is awesome, people!!! And little kids are hilarious.)
Homemaking is surely in reality the most important work in the world.
What do ships, railways, mines, cars, government, etc. exist for except that
people may be fed, warmed, and safe in their own homes...?
The homemakers job is one for which all others exist.
C. S. Lewis
(I wonder if C.S. Lewis or Charlotte Mason knew about hygge ?)
We are to be inspirers to our children. It made me think about worthy endeavors.
And we are to be revealers of God and to love children out of their faults.
The example was to remedy a lying child,
we should cultivate a love of truth such that it offsets the desire to lie.
This is such a fresh way of looking at what I do all day as a mom, teacher, and co-parent.
Charlotte Mason is not just homeschooling advice. It's a great parenting book.
After the presentation I had to go look up this article.
I wish I had read it when my first was littler.
