I wish I had them on video, because these two baby squirrels had us giggling as we watched out the window!

Don't dig up in doubt what you have planted in faith. ~ Elizabeth Elliot I realized that the deepest spiritual lessons are not learned by His letting us have our way in the end, but by His making us wait, bearing with us in love and patience until we are able to honestly to pray what He taught His disciples to pray: Thy will be done. ~Elizabeth Elliot Today is mine. Tomorrow is none of my business. If I peer anxiously into the fog of the future, I will strain my spiritual eyes so that I will not see clearly what is required of me now.
~Elizabeth Elliot "If thou writest, nothing therein has savour to me unless I read Jesus in it. If thou discoursest, nothing therein is agreeable to me unless in it also Jesus resounds. Jesus is honey to the mouth, melody to the ear, a song of jubilee in the heart." Bernard of Clairvoux Even though I think I've been through these lessons already, I learn something new each time each time we have one of our homeschool gatherings. Sharing inspiring music, poetry, map study, a Shakespeare laugh, conversation and slow handwork with each other is refreshing. Unless the eye catch fire, The God will not be seen. Unless the ear catch fire The God will not be heard. Unless the tongue catch fire The God will not be named. Unless the heart catch fire, The God will not be loved. Unless the mind catch fire, The God will not be known. William Blake- Pentecost Here at home there have been quite a few interesting nature sightings and additions to our Book of Firsts so far this summer. There is just SO much to see and we love surprises, especially when shared with friends. "What subject of systematic study can be better suited to the young child than that which calls out its sense of wonder and beauty, and which in harmony with its own restless nature is ever changing; in which is found endless variety with underlying order?" "Children whose eyes have been opened, will be able to go into the country and note down the things they have observed." quotes taken from this Parent's Review article Little eagle eyes spotted this snapping turtle meandering through the front yard one evening! We looked it up and found out it is time for these ladies to make their trek out of the mud to lay their eggs. She must have laid hers in the soft dirt of the field and been headed back to the chilly water of the lake. Check out the claws and the algae covering the shell. I wonder what winter was like down under the mud this year? I'd love to watch one laying eggs some day, but it sounds like they're quite secretive. Whenever you are creating beauty around you,
you are restoring your own soul. A. Walker |
