Innocence is a Winter's gown;
So clad, we'll abide life's pelting storm
That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm.

Blow boisterous Wind, stern Winter frown,
Innocence is a Winter's gown; So clad, we'll abide life's pelting storm That makes our limbs quake, if our hearts be warm. William Blake

Have you discovered kinetic sand? It's quite therapeutic. "Now imagination does not descend, full grown, to take possession of an empty house; like every other power of the mind, it is the merest germ of a power to begin with, and grows by what it gets; and childhood, the age of faith, is the time for its nourishing." Charlotte Mason It may have taken until December to weed out the majority of the frustrating bits in our daily rhythm and get everyone used to the newness of it all, but the near daily giggles and comments like "Is math next?" Me: yes. "Oh, good!" that I hear scattered throughout the lessons, now, let me know that the work to get here has been worth the patience-building I underwent. A pleasantly busy 3yo at his little table, snuggling in my lap, or playing (mostly) contentedly at my knee indicate that hard-to-describe 'something' about the atmosphere is on the right track. Things that help us understand a tough text and not create more busy work are good to share. Here are some helpful resources for our Year 2 book Pilgrim's Progress. By the way, this book is SO GOOD, and even if you do not school littles it is very worth the read for the mental images it conjures and the faith ties. Take your time and soak it in. Audio with unabridged text (if the language is tripping you up, listen instead of reading aloud) Original Text Original Illustrations (don't miss these) Map ideas (Take time to draw your own as you read. Creative or not, it helps!) Retelling Video (I have not watched all of this. You may want to preview?) Spontaneous outdoor 3-D map making is fun too, when it is too windy to play anywhere except right next to the garage.

Welcome!
"I am recording this so that future generations will also praise the Lord for all He has done." -Psalm 102:18 I am a mama to 2 sweet brothers who aspires to a "thinking love" toward my children.
Take a peek into our journey towards a living education inspired by the writings of Charlotte Mason. Be sure to leave me a comment if you're inspired! I prefer to keep my text and images right here. Please don't copy without permission. Thanks! Categories
